It can be cooking yourself a delicious and nutritious meal, taking a bath, grooming yourself, working out, stretching, writing in your journal, meditating, getting a massage, watching a movie, reading a good book or taking a nap. It can even be paying your bills and cleaning up a mess. It's different for everyone and it of course can vary but the ultimate goal is to nurture yourself during your downtime to balance the output of energy in work and/or school. If you are constantly giving, you also need to make yourself a priority. You can only give as much as you are able to take care of yourself. When this balance is off, it can sure as hell lead to burn-out. Find ways in which to honour your body, mind and spirit. This has been one of the more challenging things I've been understanding (input vs. output) as I'm no stranger to burning out. At this point I try to give myself at least one day a week to catch up on things in my own personal life and care that I've been neglecting so I can be more grounding in myself and therefore more productive when I get back to work and school. What are you favourite ways to create this balance in your life? how do you show up for yourself?
